Cycle-Smart International UCI Verge Series

Day 1

Despite the course being under snow just a few days earlier, it dried off well and by Saturday it was typical Northampton fast. The first races of the day had to content with a little ice from the low temps, but that is pretty normal for CSI. By mid-morning, it the course was full throttle, thanks to wide open straights, gentler turns where you could rip it as fast as your traction would allow and minimal mud.

Elite Men

Hunter got a good start in the main event after lining up near the back of the 60 rider field. He avoided the start chute crash, took the steeper right hand side of the run-up and gained a few spots by the middle of the first lap. He would battle to get into the top 30 for most of the race before getting caught with 2 laps to go by a group headed up by 3 Embrocation riders. From that group he out sprinted 2 of them, taking 34th on the day.

Masters 35+

Larry and Tim raced the super fast Masters event. Tim, started 6 rows back but continued his habit of flying into the top 20 quickly in the race. He ended up finishing 14th. Great job considering his lack of a good starting spot.
