Cat 4
Stephen Gibertoni continues to find some great late-season form for his CX season. He is also having a great time settling into the sport! Can't ask for more than that.
Here is his report:
"After watching a few race
recaps from Providence and Cross Vegas I noticed that the lead riders
were sprinting out of every turn. I was feeling strong so I
went in to the race looking for a strong start (Verge points definitely
helped as I was 4th row on the left side). Into the first
turn I think I was about 25-30 riders back and burnt some matches trying
to get to the run up as far up as possible. As the fence narrowed by the finish line I was pinched by another rider
and lost 5-6 spots but avoided crashing. Around the bend and up the
run up I passed a few riders. I continued to chip away and according the a mid-lap
official I was 18th heading in to
the last lap. I passed a few more riders, one rider I traded positions
with went down hard on the transition from the dirt/root section on to
the pavement sidewalk. Another took the train tracks at the wrong angle
and down he went. The lead riders were pretty
strung out and I couldn’t catch the UVM rider in front of me but what
the heck…he’s 18 years old! All in all, happy with 13th for that race and now I’m debating adding the final race of the Shimano Verge series in December." Awesome job Stephen!
Sean Whitehurst also was battling hard... This time to move up from back of the field start. He ended up in 59th place.
Cat 3
Dave Maynard takes a super solid 15th place from the field of over 125! Report coming soon.
Masters 35+
Hunter raced the earlier 35+ field due to a schedule conflict with the later Elite Race. He took a 3rd row start and ended up in 17th place.
