Saturday in Plainville
Cat 2,3,4 Race
The race had been appointed the team's debut for the new kit. A good group of guys showed up ready to represent in the overall field of 32:
Joe K
Joe P
Hunter
John
Chris
Miguel
Peter
Gregg
Dillon
The goal was to get a breakaway with mupltiple CCR riders. There were the usual Cyclnaut riders, a few riders from the TWZ Masters Cycling Team, a couple of Target Training guys, and Guido Wolmann. So the field was def strong with some fast guys.
one lap in Joe k with a heads up move jumped away with Arlen Zane from TWZ and jumped off the front of the field. Hunter would stay at the front of the peleton for the next 15 laps policing the pace. Guido jumped hard at least 3 times along with a couple of accelerations from Bill Thompson from keltic cycling, each time, Hunter responding comfortably. Joe P and Dillon also chipped in kept the pace reasonable fast. Confidence in Joe was strong. Joe and Zane would yo yo a bit off the front, but the gap would remain about 15 to 30 seconds till about 20 laps to go. Relentless pace making from Guido would end up bringing them back. Hunter then had an unfortunate touch of wheels, sending him to the deck, busting a spoke, and ending his day. A couple of laps later, the other teams would take advantage of the situation. A group of 4 containing all the teams but CCR went up the road by 10 seconds.
Joe K, pulled out a super effort 2 laps later, bridging up to the group alone. He needed one and half laps to do it. Crazy Strong! That group would end up getting caught with 3 to go as the Cyclonauts train was heating up again. Joe managed to hang in there despite working twice as hard as anyone out the on the day and hung on in the sprint for 3rd place. Crazy Insane Strong!
Sunday in Bethel
Cat 5 Race
Antonio battled the cold and the wind for another strong top 20 finish in 17th place.
Cat 4 Race
Miguel was out for the team, though he was suffering from the lingering effects of a week long cold.
Cat 1 2 3 Race
Hunter dealt with some road rash and started this, his last Bethel race of the season. He mixed it up in a couple of early brief moves. The strong wind split the field at the halfway mark with about 20 riders going clear. Hunter was stuck on the wrong side of the split. He did get 2nd in the "field sprint" though
