3 Village Tour & Keith Berger Classic

Another solid weekend of racing for CCR

Cat 3

It started out with some solid pacemaking by Joe K. He was upfront right away,
letting everyone know we meant business. Larry and Matt Sack got a 2 man break going
on the first lap. They had a decent gap but got chased down at the top of the
big hill on lap 2. There was some confusion as the catch was made and it wasn't
long before another break sailed off the front and out of sight. In that break
was none other than Larry again plus 1 other. That was the last we'd see off them
til we crossed the finish line to find Larry and his girlfriend sipping drinks
in their road-side cabana--that's how much time they put into the field.

Back in the pack the rest of the team worked to control the pace and cover any
attacks. They came fast and furious at first but we matched them all and with
1.5 laps to go the field knew we owned them.

A couple of central wheel guys tried to TT it on their own but Chris B, who is no stranger to riding strong at this race
chased them down with relative ease. So much ease that he eventually blew their legs
off and found himself between the leaders and the chase. He eventually got
swallowed up at the top of the hill on the last lap. But the damage he inflicted was real, as the motivation from anyone else to chase down the break was fading fast.

Coming off the last hill an unattached rider tried to break free, but he was
quickly reeled back in by Matt, who had bearly broken a sweat since being in the
break.

Some confusion ensued at we re-grouped and then came a small riser--Rob E powered up
it thinking the pack was charging behind. With about 4 miles left at this point he figured
Larry was un-catchable so he decided to go for it. Rob - "The gods must have
taken pity on the pudgy guy trying to ride his bike fast cause I was able to
stay away and get 3rd. As I crossed the line I spied the aforementioned Larry
having a relaxing post-race cocktail. I think he had had time to shower and
change too."

The rest of the pack charged hard to the finish and Joe K got pipped on the
line, just missing 4th.

All in all a solid race with near text book team domination.

Cat 4

Gregg F and Dillon P were in this race. Gregg finished strong
with 16th and Dillon P, who usually saves
his bullets for the crits,
also duked it out to finish in the lead field.
