Plainville Spring Series Week 4

Cat 4, 5

Dillon and Jordan rode this race hard the whole way. They both dropped the hammer after the first sprint which took a handful of riders out the back. By the end of the race Dillon had been involved in 3 different strong breaks. Nothing stuck though but he was still able to gallop to a 3rd place finish in the bunch sprint. A great way to end the series for the team and it was the start of a good day for everyone.

Cat 3, 4

Peter K and Peter F lined up with Cosmo. Larry Merling also broke open his race season today. A few laps in, with a break of 5 up the road a bit, Larry charged off and cleared the gap. He was the last one across and it had enough power to stay off the front. Cosmo and the Peter's went into defense mode and had an easy day in the saddle as the break would eventually lap the field. Larry finished 2nd in the sprint, picking up some upgrade points and putting CCR back into the running for the team classification.

Cat 1,2,3

Tim, Hunter and Cosmo were out there for the team in the smallest field so far for the Plainville 1,2,3 race. Right off the line a rider went clear and Cosmo was the 2nd guy to jump and chase him. So within a lap Cosmo was in a break of 4 guys, letting Tim and Hunter patrol the front. Within a couple of more laps, Guido Wolmann and Anthony Alessio went up the road as well it decided that the team would still ride in defense of Cosmo up the road. The break ended up being 8 riders strong and with Eric Merrill and Chris Crowle doing most of the chasing in the pack, it was a controllable situation for Hunter and Tim. As the race got down to under 10 laps the break was threatening to lap the field so CCR went to front and rode strong tempo to keep it from happening. Tim rode the last 3 laps in the top 3 and was rewarded by winning the field sprint. in the break, Cosmo was starting to feel the previous race in his legs and the attacks on the bell lap pushed him into the red. He rolled in perhaps 7th with an upgrade point or 8th place. There was confusion on the line regarding the break and the final finishing order.

All in all, a great day for the team. Next up is the remaining 2 weeks of the Bethel series, Battenkill, and the Chris Hinds Crit in Rhode Island.

  4. No, we lost the tie-breaker based on finish line position. But I do have Larry's $23 for second-place.

  6. I am amazed, someone is actually protesting the 3/4 finish. This strikes a new low in local bike racing, somebody actually thinks the result in a parking lot crit is worth crying over.
Thanks for sticking around for the cash money Cosmo, see you when I do.
