Killington Stage Race

Matt Sack and Cosmo lined up for the Cat3's and finished toward the
front each day. Cosmo finished 27th overall on GC with Matt getting
in at 42nd. Solid results from the 2 considering neither had trained to
peak at this race.

The weekend news belonged to Cat 4 Jordan Lynn. Jordan continued
his dominance of the 4's with top ten placings in the TT and the RR.
Good enough to finish 2nd overall and 5th in the points competition.
Here is his race re-cap:

Stage 1 was a 3-lap, 53-mile circuit race and my goals were to simply
finish with the pack and to not let a breakaway be successful.
Fortunately, that was the case. One guy (who eventually took the GC
Leader's jersey going into Stage 3) kept making moves but none were
successful. The course (believe it or not) was pretty flat and very
fast. I finished with the pack and was 21st after stage 1. Nothing
too exciting here.

Stage 2 was the time trial and this day went great. Fortunately, I
was about as aerodynamic as possible (thanks Matt for letting me use
your ZIPP 404's!) with my fitted TT bike, aero helmet, shoe covers,
and Virginia Tech skinsuit (I will need to look into getting a CCR
skinsuit next year for sure). To make a long story short, I passed 6
people on the course and had the 4th best time of the day and ended up
4th in the overall GC. The best part of that stage had to be my (in
my Virginia Tech skinsuit) passing a guy wearing the MIT kit. Nothing
like a little college rivalry.

The 3rd and final stage was 62 miles and had a long, very tough climb
up East Mountain Road at the end that basically went to the highest
base lodge at Killington Ski Resort. I stayed in contact with the top
three until about halfway through the course up the 1st KOM climb of
the day. A 7-man break formed there with me, the current race leader,
the current second-place on GC ( eventual GC winner ), and 4 others.
We worked together and had at least a 2:30 gap
going into the final climb. As soon as it started the 7-person break
splintered with the eventual winner leading, another guy chasing him,
and three people (me, another guy, and the current race leader) duking
it out behind him. Once I got into a rhythm, I dropped the other two
and was trying to make up ground on the 2 people ahead of me but
couldn't close any gaps. I finished 3rd on that stage, 1:16 behind
the stage winner and GC winner. I held nothing back, seeing my HR
reach 197 at one point. From what I hear, the race winner summitted
Mt. Washington in less than an hour. He was certainly the strongest
person the field.
The results for me were as follows: 21st in the GC after the first
day, 4th in the GC after the second day, and 2nd in the GC (1:43
behind the race leader) after the third day."

Congratulations Jordan!
