Winsted Woods MTB Root66 Series Race

Sean Whitehurst moves up to the 3rd in the series and new Team Racer Zac Hawk makes it thru a tough race in one piece.

From Sean:
"It started raining as all the CAT2s started arriving.  The temperature had dropped to the low 50's. The first call to staging was 30min before the race. Some people went to staging but I took my time to prepare and tried to stay warm.  I was in the 6 man 19-29 category.  One of 2 small wheeled bikes, I am quickly realizing that a 29er is the way to go in MTB racing.  I did not start out strongly but rode consistently with my lap time splits within 1min of each other.  The thick tree cover it the woods kept most of the trail dry.  The course was very different from 2012 and it was a fast 4 mile lap.  I ended up in last for my category behind the other 26er but the result put me up from 7th to 3rd in the series."

In the SingleSpeed Race, Zachary Hawk endured a tough race made tougher by not getting enough calories into his body. He toughed it out though and is now sitting in 2nd place overall in the Single Speed division.
