19-29
Sean rode well and
maintained a consistent pace all race long. His bike ran well and had no
mechanicals. Running on limited training
time he finished the race strong, which is an accomplishment by itself, and
came in 6th out of 8. Nice work Sean!
30-39
This group started off
fast, knowing it was going to be a long tough day Gregg, Dillon, and Marc
setteled into their own pace and let the hyper freaks blow themselves up. Dillon
brought a full rigid super carbon Kite rig and got pretty banged up on the
rocky technical course. This slowed him down for sure. Marc and Gregg were positioned
well in the top 4-5 places and riding super consistant. Gregg flatted on lap 2
which took him out of contention. Marc rode strong and free of any mechanicals
to take 6th on the day and 2nd place for the CT
champioship! Congrats Marc! Gregg would have been a solid 3rd or 4th
but with the flat ended up a respectable
8th place. Dillon toughed it out finishing the race and in his words
“I did not finish last” Congrats to all!
40-49
Joe K took the start
line in the always competitive 40-49 group, there was about 12 or so lined up to do battle. A fast start was lead out by the Bikers Edge guy who was
favored to win, Joe saw the move and hammered passed a bunch of guys to get up
to leaders and was stiitng pretty in 3rd. That trio quickly outpaced
the rest of the field and big gaps opened early. The pace was fast and they caught and passed some of 30-39 group including Marc, Gregg, &
Dillon! Joe’s CX skills came to the forefront in the “Boneyard” section where
he dismounted and ran past the two leaders and proceded to open up a gap. Not
long after taking the lead he flatted in the rear and lost the lead and fell
back to mid pack. Once going again he hammered past everyone and managed to
claw back to 3rd position. On lap 2 with another stroke of bad luck
his chain broke! This one was not a quick fix and he dropped pretty far back
into the field. Once going again he clawed his way back (passing Gregg, Dillon,
and Marc again…) to try catch the leaders. Now on the final lap,
another mechanical! A twisted link in the chain was wreaking havoc on the derailure/shifting
and was forced to stop again, remove the chain find the twisted link, remove
it, and put it back on. At this point he knew his day was over but looking to
get a hard workout in he proceeded to hammer along. Some of the riders were not
to happy after having now passed them for the 3rd time! He crossed the line 5th
on the day.
Single speed
New CCR Racer Zack Hawk
lined up for CCR in the single speed class. This course was tough enough as it
is and to motor along on a single speed!! Awesome! Zack rode a super
strong race, no mechanicals, and crossed the line as our best finisher on the
day in 2nd place!! Congrats Zack! Awesome effort!
