Providence Cyclocross Festival

Cat 3

Cosmo was looking to get back on track after going scoreless in Gloucester. He rode a strong race, making few mistakes, and was just outside the lead group both days. He ended up with 11th place on both days. Good results that will move him up from 18th on the overall Verge Points list. Dave also raced both days and got 59th on Saturday and 49th on Saturday.

Cat 4

Master and chief Dillon P, hurriedly built up a Scott CX bike, complete with some untested Kite alloy tubulars and suited up for both days of racing in the Cat4's. Not that easy, with the race being the first to go off at 8 AM. Both days Dillon started last row. On Sunday, he managed to get up to 51st both place. Sunday was a better day. Despite going down once and nearly destroying his front wheel, he rolled in at 38th place. The wheels held up great.

Masters 35+

Larry and Tim raced this race on Saturday. Both had to start near the back of the field. Tim charged up to the top 25 in a lap or 2 and stayed there until he rolled a tire and when down pretty hard. Larry also was chasing the top 30 for the whole race and ended up in 38th place. Tim rolled in at 46th after getting a spare wheel.

On Sunday Larry was back. Tim couldn't register day-of in the Elite race so hustled his way last minute into the 35+ field. Joe also made the trip up and decided to do this race instead of a last row start in the Cat3 race. All 3 Cheshire riders were almost immediately into the top 30. By lap 3, Tim was only 20 seconds down from the lead group of 5. Larry and Joe were not far behind. Tim stayed up there and ended up in 18th place for one of his best results of the season. Joe got 29th and Larry rolled in at 42nd after he had to shake off an injury that happened during the last time over the barriers.

Elite UCI

Hunter started both Saturday and Sunday at the back of the 70 rider field. On Saturday he got thru the first couple of 180 corners better then usual and rolled into a good group around mid-pack. That group of 4 or 5 riders would slowly pick off a couple of riders and Hunter ended up in 39th place. Not bad for C1 race that pays 30 deep. Sunday's race was a little tougher cause of the heat, a little easier with the course being more for a power rider. Hunter was feeling Saturday's effort and had way less snap in the legs. He had to settle for 45th.
