Antonio scores a strong 2nd place!
The Yale race is quickly becoming a classic event. The setting for the race is great at the base of East Rock. The atmosphere is lively thanks for the full force college teams that truck in from all over for the weekend. The only negative is a choppy half of the course that gave numerous riders flats and even a couple with crashes.
Monty, Bruce, Antonio and Dave L lined up for the Cat 4\5 event. It started fast with flyers from a couple of college kids looking to roll the dice. After 5 or 6 laps, a huge pileup in the worst corner stopped 10 plus guys and took out Bruce. Antonio was the only one to not have to chase back on. Monty would pull out a lap later to help Bruce, who was still on the roadside. Bruce is ok besides a couple of cuts and bruises. The race settled down a bit but a late attack by a lone rider would be successful, making everyone else fight for second. Antonio planned his sprint perfectly, and came around the last dicey corner in first and was able to hold on for the remaining 120 meters to get 2nd place.

Hunter rode down from the shop after working the super sale to support the newest addition to the Yale race... The Cat123. There were about 35 other riders. 3 laps in a break went clear with Hunter in it. a couple of laps later Hunter dropped his chain going thru the rough corner. It was enough to knock him out of the break so he settled into the field. The break would stay away for the rest for the race thanks to teams being represented at both ends. A couple of attacks and a couple of laps spent chasing hard netting little for Hunter and he ended up finished mid-pack.
