Mansfield Hollow CX - CT State Championships

The team has an awesome day out in the woods of Mansfield.
THREE race victories and 2 State Championship medals!
Doesn't get much better than that.

Cat 4

The day started off cold and there was frost on the ground for Marc and Dillon's Cat4 race. They didnt have much time to pre-ride the course and had to settle in 2nd row from the back for the start. Dillon had an awesome start and charged right through the field up to probably 6-7th leaving Marc to fight it out in the pack. Traffic on the first hill made Marc run half of it but he was able to pick up a couple of spots in the process. By halfway thru the first lap Marc had caught up with Dillon and he settled in with a pace that was slowly brining him up to the race leader who was now up on the rest by about 5-7. Marc was able to get around him by the next time thru the line and from there rode a clean race, hopping the log each time and staying 5-10 seconds up on 2nd place. First place! Dillon rolled in at 18th place.

Larry also started toward the back in his race. He made it thru a crash in the opening meters even before the first bottleneck. He was up to the race leader moments later and when the rider in first crashed going over the first set of barriers, Larry took the lead and never looked back. He rode a clean race and even was unfazed by a good size snake out on the course in the sand section.

35 + Race

Tim wins! Tim stays on fire and wins the race and takes the gold for the CT 35-39 age bracket.
Tim made it look easy after he got a few seconds gap.

Pro - Cat 3

Hunter camped out for a bit and got a first row spot and Joe was in the row behind him in the 26 rider field. Within moments Todd Bowden was off the front and would go on to lead wire to wire. Hunter got a slow start but was able to get into 2nd place by mid lap. Joe had a decent start and was settling in around 12 th place after the hectic start. Hunter had a quick off-camber fall that brought him back to the group that would fight for 2nd for the next couple of laps. Hunter kept the pressure up within that group and it was down to just him and one other rider ( Colin Rueter ) for the final 2 laps. With 250 meters to go, 2 straight-aways from the finish, Colin attacked hard and took a a few meters gap into the final corners and was able to stay out in front of Hunter for 2nd place. Hunter takes 3rd and was the 1st place CT finisher in the 30-34 age bracket.
