Nutmeg Classic Criterium

Dillon P wins! Taking the 2nd victory for the team this year.
Dillon won the Cat 4 race amid a strong field of 60 early in the day.

The large field had its share of attacks during the race. Dillon got involved in a couple of them. Nothing lasted more than a few laps, leaving it to come down to a sprint finish. Dillon rode smart to protect his position in the field for the final 3 laps but got put out into the wind with 400 meters to go at the crest of the climb. He bolted off the front in that moment, putting a gap on the rest of the field that he was able to hold all the way to the line.
That's a LONG SPRINT ! Congratulations!

35+ Race

Tim raced twice today. Once in the 35+ field and then again in the 30+ field. In the 35 + field, there were a couple of unsuccessful attacks before a couple of riders went up the road. Then a large group of about 11 joined up with Tim in there. By the time for the finish, the group grew to about 23 riders. Tim finished off the sprint in the 12th place.

30+ Race

The team set out to make a mark in the 30+ race and had Tim, Hunter and Dillon in the small field of 25. There were lot's of attacks from lone riders all race long. Tim rode off the front for a couple of laps and took home a prime for the effort. Dillon rode in defense of his teammates thru the race and was also off the front for a bit. The only other well-represented team was from NYC and those guys were looking to end it in a sprint. Dillon had a last lap flyer that forced all to chase, setting up Tim and Hunter with good position for the finale. Tim rolled in at 5th, but with all the guys in front from the city, he takes the gold for CT finishers. Hunter was 3 spots back and took the bronze.

Put one other guy working with him, it ends in a break.

Pro 1,2,3 race

Hunter stayed on to race the main event. With a good tailwind blowing up the hill at this point in the afternoon, this race was fast for the whole 40 miles. Average speed of over 31 mph with a finishing time of an hour and 15 min. It was a task just to stay near the front at such speeds. Hunter got into one brief move that was brought back within lap. At about the midway point, a group of 12 rolled off the front and slowly built up a gap. A crash with 7 to go split the field briefly and forced Hunter to chase. He ended up rolling in for 40th place.
