Master 45+
Miguel takes a strong 21st place in the big field sprint.
Master 35 +
Tim and Joe K were out for the not-quite-Pro1,2 race and they rode the 65 rider field with style. Joe did a lot of work keeping things in check and making sure Tim would have the best crack at the finish. Tim didn't disappoint and took 6th in the field sprint. More importantly, he was the 1st place finisher from CT in the age bracket meaning he takes the USA Cycling Gold medal for the year.
( the last race in New Britain, where Tim also gold medaled, was for the Nutmeg Games title. )
Great job, Tim! Taking double gold medals in New Britain for 2012!
Cat 4
Dillon gets completely foiled by a big crash on the last lap and finished way down from the top.
Cat 3
Cosmo raced but didn't contest the sprint so he finished near the back of the pack.
Pro1,2
Hunter raced the super fast last event. There were a couple of Jelly Belly Pro's in the attendance and the race speed showed. Lot's of best laps times were set on Strava during the race. There was a group that stayed away for quite a few laps but it was all together with 8 to go. Hunter narrowly missed a big crash with 3 to go that split the field. He had time to chase back on but that left little for the sprint. He rolled in toward the front of the group that was left chasing for sprint position during the last lap. 31st place.
