It was a very different course from Saturday's action in Cheshire and the variety of the 2 courses made for a good weekend from a racing standpoint. Where Cheshire is twisty, tight and technical, Hop Brook is wide open with lot's of pedaling.
Cat 4
Marc C is more of a mountain biker so the course wasn't much to his suiting. He still finishing in the points though at 8th and wrapped up the CT Series Championship for Cat4's. CONGRATS! Miguel also did the Cat 4 race and finished a season best 13th place, further showing how it took roadie type skills to do well.
Cat 1,2,3
Tim, Larry and Hunter lined up in the 35 rider field. There were a couple of heavy-hitters also there from other teams who stayed over in the area from Cheshire to race the double.
Hunter and Larry had great starts, going over the barriers in the top 8 or so. Tim had a terrible start, getting stuck behind the worst combination of riders possible. Halfway thru the first lap he was fighting back from about 15th place. Even still, it only took him a lap to connect with the chase group that had Larry, Hunter and 4 other guys in it. 2 riders were up the way and were not going to be caught. Tim and Hunter started attacking the group, with Tim riding solo for a couple of laps before getting caught back. Josh from Devil's Gear also attacked a couple of times which was good enought to lose Larry and a couple of other guys. With 2 to go, Tim attacked on the climb. Hunter didnt chase, forcing one rider to get stuck between Tim and the group. Tim held on to take 3rd and Hunter rolled in at 5th. Larry was right there as well in 8th place.
