Baystate Cyclocross Day 1

Men's Elite Race

It was a smaller then usual field for the Elite race on Saturday. The Thanksgiving holiday no doubt reducing the field size for Tim and Hunter. Tim started near the back of the 40 rider field and Hunter in the 3rd row. The first bottle neck was pretty severe in a 180 corner. The next bottleneck was shortly after that in another 180. The lead group therefore was pretty quickly away. Tim settled into a group gunning for the top 25 and Hunter a couple of places behind. With about 3 laps to go, Tim rolled his rear tubular. Getting it back on was not easy or quick. He limped to the pit for a neutral wheel but only raced another half lap before pulling out. Hunter put down a couple of attacks to try to break up the group of 5 he was in but had to end up for 30th place.
