Tim was flying in this race, sitting in 6th, on his way to a season best finish when he crashed nearly full speed into the barriers. Handlebars and brakes needed to be put right and it took a few moments to get going again. Just like that he went down to 19th. He was still able to fight back to 14th place before the end of the race. Bad misfortune spoils what would have been a good event.
UCI Elite Race
Hunter took advantage of the wide open start and shot up to 12th place or so before the race hit the single track. Things quickly spread out and Hunter settled into a group fighting to stay inside the top 30. He managed to pass a couple more on the way to 26th place.
